10 Scriptures on Healing to Meditate On and Pray
Share
When we face illness or injury, it can be easy to feel weary or afraid. But Scripture reminds us that God is near, that He cares deeply for us, and that He is able to bring healing—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. His Word brings comfort, peace, and renewed hope when we place our trust in Him.
Below are ten powerful Scriptures you can meditate on and pray through when you need the Lord’s healing touch.
1. Exodus 15:26 (NIV)
“He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.’”
Meditate on this: God reveals Himself as Jehovah Rapha—the Lord who heals. His nature and heart toward His people are restorative.
2. Psalm 103:2–3 (NLT)
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”
Pray: “Lord, thank You for Your forgiveness and for the healing You bring to every part of my life.”
3. Isaiah 53:4–5 (ESV)
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Meditate on this: The cross of Christ is the ultimate expression of God’s healing—He bore our pain and offers us peace and restoration.
4. Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.”
Pray: “Father, You are the restorer of my health and strength. I receive Your healing and trust in Your timing.”
5. Psalm 147:3 (NLT)
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
Meditate on this: God’s healing isn’t just physical—it reaches the deepest wounds of the heart.
6. James 5:14–15 (ESV)
“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him… And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”
Pray: “Lord, strengthen my faith and surround me with people who will pray and believe with me for healing.”
7. Matthew 8:16–17 (NIV)
“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.’”
Meditate on this: Jesus’ ministry on earth reveals God’s desire and ability to bring healing and deliverance to His people.
8. Proverbs 4:20–22 (NLT)
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words… for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
Pray: “God, help me to treasure Your Word. Let it bring healing and life to my mind, body, and spirit.”
9. 3 John 1:2 (ESV)
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”
Meditate on this: God’s desire is for our wholeness—body, mind, and spirit—rooted in a thriving soul.
10. Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Pray: “Lord, replace my anxiety with Your peace. Guard my heart and mind as I trust You for healing and wholeness.”
Whether your healing comes instantly, gradually, or ultimately in eternity, you can rest in knowing that God is good, He is with you, and His Word brings life. Take time each day to read, speak, and pray these Scriptures—letting His promises renew your faith and strengthen your heart.
