Simple Holy Week Prayers

Simple Holy Week Prayers

Holy Week invites us to slow down, reflect, and draw closer to Jesus as we remember the final days leading to the cross—and ultimately, the resurrection. Whether you’re new to observing Holy Week or looking for a more personal way to engage, these simple prayers and scriptures can help guide your heart each day.

Palm Sunday – Welcoming the King

“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” — John 12:13 NIV

Lord, I welcome You into my heart today just as the crowds welcomed You into Jerusalem. Help me not to praise You only in moments of joy, but to follow You faithfully even when it’s hard. Teach me to recognize You as my true King in every part of my life.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Holy Monday – A Cleansed Heart

My house will be called a house of prayer.” — Matthew 21:13 NIV

Lord, cleanse my heart like You cleansed the temple. Remove anything that distracts me from You like fear, pride, doubt or anxiety. Make my life a place where Your presence is honored and where love grows.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Holy Tuesday – Love That Reflects Him

“Love the Lord your God… and love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:37–39 NIV

Lord, help me to love You with all that I am. Show me how to love others with patience and kindness, even when it’s difficult. Let my actions reflect Your truth and grace today.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Holy Wednesday – A Faithful Heart

“The Son of Man came… to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45 NIV

Jesus, as I remember the events leading to Your sacrifice, help me to understand the depth of Your love. Guard my heart from envy, selfishness, or indifference. Teach me to be faithful to You in all things and to give generously to those around me.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Maundy Thursday – Serving Like Jesus

“I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” — John 13:15 NIV

Lord, You humbled Yourself to serve others. Holy Spirit, help me to serve with the same humility and love. Open my eyes to the needs around me, and give me a willing heart to care for others as You do.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Good Friday – The Cross Changes Everything

“It is finished.” — John 19:30 NIV

Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for taking my place and bearing my sins. Help me to never take Your sacrifice for granted. Let Your love transform me and draw me closer to You.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Holy Saturday – Trusting in the Waiting

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” — Psalm 37:7 NIV

Lord, in the quiet and waiting of this day, help me to trust You. Even when I don’t understand, remind me that You are still working. Strengthen my faith as I wait for Your promises to unfold.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Easter Sunday – Living the Resurrection

“He is not here; He has risen!” — Luke 24:6 NIV

Jesus, thank You for the victory of the resurrection. Holy Spirit, fill my heart with hope, joy, and new life. Help me to live each day in the power of Your resurrection and to share Your light with others.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
