Time for a Thinking Audit + 15 Scriptures to Meditate On This Month

Yesterday, I went for a run around the neighborhood. Instead of listening to my go-to Spotify playlist, I chose silence. I wanted to clear my head, and in that quiet, I found myself thinking about my thinking.

The Holy Spirit gently reminded me: if I want better thoughts, I need to consume better content.

Here’s the truth—your output is always a reflection of your input.

So I did what I’m now calling a “thinking audit.” I took inventory of the thoughts, ideas, music, entertainment, conversations, and even debates I’ve been exposing myself to. And you know what? I realized it was time for some changes.

It was time to unfollow certain social media accounts.
Time to update my playlist.
Time to raise my standards for what I watch and the conversations I engage in.

Instead, I’m choosing more silence. More space away from my phone. And most importantly, I’m choosing to root my thinking in God’s Word daily.

Philippians 4 instructs us:
“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Those are the kinds of thoughts I want more of, and I’m pretty sure you do, too.

I want to encourage you to do your own “thinking audit.” Take inventory of what you’re giving your attention and focus to.

As you begin to cut ties with certain inputs, here are some scriptures to think on, meditate on, and truly chew on. My prayer is that they help you dwell on the goodness and faithfulness of God, draw you closer to Jesus, and make you more attuned to the Spirit’s leading each day.
